I’m Elaine, a K–6 tutor based in Columbia, Kentucky (Adair County). I work with students of all abilities, but carry a degree in special education (I am not certified in Kentucky) in mild interventions like reading and math  intervention, ADHD, mild autism, dyslexia, and other learning differences.​

After recently moving here from Indiana, I’m now accepting new students for in-person sessions at Compass Learning Columbia Kentucky. I also offer hybrid online tutoring, but I prefer to begin by meeting each student face-to-face.

My sessions are structured yet flexible, built around each child’s learning style, curiosity, and rhythm. I work with all families but have a special program helping homeschool families bring the science of learning to life, using hands-on, brain-based strategies drawn from pedagogy, neuroscience, and the science of reading and math. You won’t find catchy buzzwords here. Instead, you’ll find real classical education tools that work: teaching cursive and typing to build reading fluency, using music and rhythm to strengthen memory, cooking to apply math and sequencing skills, and creating lessons that connect learning to real life.

Whether your child learns best through problem-solving, exploring nature, or play-based learning, I design each session to nurture confidence, curiosity, and joy.
